Shannon | University of Central Arkansas

Updated: Nov 25, 2024

About a year and a half ago, Shannon gave his life to Christ. He grew up without any exposure to the things of God, and when he came to the University of Central Arkansas, he was just beginning his walk with the Lord. He was so new to faith that he had to Google, “How do I give my life to Christ?” That’s how little he knew about the gospel at the time. But when Shannon heard Jesus' command, "Go and make disciples of all nations," he quickly caught a vision for it and chose to obey. Not long after committing his life to Christ, Shannon met a StuMo staff member named Dalton, who took him along to share the gospel with other guys in Shannon’s fraternity.

From the very start, Shannon stood out. While his fraternity brothers sipped from red solo cups, Shannon walked around with a gallon of chocolate milk. When asked about it, he would share the story of how Jesus had given him new life. His willingness to stand apart was just the beginning of his boldness in living out his faith.

Shannon has taken great initiative in his personal ministry and has already shared the gospel with multiple freshmen who recently joined his fraternity. One of those guys made the decision to give his life to Christ after Shannon shared the good news. And another, Shannon found out, was already following Christ. So, he brought that guy with him the next time he shared the Gospel and taught him how to.

Shannon is multiplying his life, and his love for God and the lost is growing more every day. It’s not uncommon to hear people who knew him in high school say, “Shannon?! Shannon’s doing what?! Are we talking about the same guy?” These reactions serve as a powerful reminder of how God is still in the business of changing lives and bringing dead things to life.
