When Dakota arrived at Oklahoma State University as a freshman, faith wasn’t on his radar. He was content living life his own way—until nine months into his first year, he met a StuMo staff member who shared with him the truth of the gospel.
Dakota had always been curious about spiritual things but struggled to trust the Bible or believe that he could trust God with his life. As he continued the conversation, something began to shift. He came to believe that God was real and wanted a relationship with him—and that realization changed everything.
Almost immediately, Dakota’s friends noticed a difference. Back at his fraternity house, he couldn’t help but tell others about the new direction his life was taking. Over the next several weeks, he began to let go of old habits and destructive patterns, finding new purpose and clarity for how he wanted to live.
Dakota became eager to learn and grow, especially after hearing about Kaleo, our summer training program. Initially, his summer was packed—an internship, a family trip, and plans with friends—but one by one, those plans fell through. He took that as an open door and decided to go to Kaleo.
That summer proved to be pivotal. Through mentoring, community, and focused teaching, Dakota grew in maturity, confidence, and vision for how his life could make a difference.
Today, Dakota is thriving. He’s connected with a strong community of friends in his fraternity who are also pursuing faith, he’s growing in character and leadership, and he’s helping younger students who are right where he once was.
